congratulations are in order for kyla ross, who successfully defended her title today!  (wieber did not compete).  ohashi came in second after missing her lo full on beam again, mckayla maroney came third, and my favvv gabby douglas was fourth!  the junior national team is ross, ohashi, maroney, douglas, madison kocian, sarah finnegan, sabrina vega, mckenzie wofford, ericha fassbender, ariana guerra, kennedy baker, jordyn wieber, lexie priessman, keely mcneer, elizabeth price, and brenna dowell.  full results here.

last night jon horton also won his second consecutive national title, but the competition was a pretty good showdown between him and danell leyva, who came second.  the men’s world team is horton, leyva, brandon wynn, chris brooks, chris cameron, and steven legendre, with alternate paul ruggeri.  you can watch the universal sports coverage of the finals here.

bross is leading larson and raisman in senior wag, and finals are LIVE on nbc & universal sports in about an hour & a half.  you can watch universal sports coverage of prelims here.  it’ll continue to be very gymnastics spammy & catch-up-y here at least through the weekend, and then i’ll try to even the posting ratio back out.

  4. quick junior recap

wieber had a bad day.  according to ig, she tweaked her ankles in warm-up.  she got a 16 for her amanar, but then fell on her tkatchev.  she fell three times on beam & scratched floor.  she said she may compete saturday, but i hope she won’t if she’s not 100%.  i’m sure she’s frustrated dealing with an injury again, but she doesn’t have anything to prove.

ohashi fell on bars and beam, but is still in striking distance in second.  gabby douglas is third (yay!), followed by maroney & priessman, who did her amanar, but watered down her tumbling on floor.  vega had a a bit of a rough day & landed in 13th.  kyla ross went four for four and is leading.  see the full results here.

if ohashi doesn’t fall on saturday, she could take this.  i’d be very happy if the podium stayed the way it is now, though.
